Harrow Connect 160 Racquet
Comments: This is the best racquet I have hit with in a long time! Was using Gearbox for past few years and when this racquet initially came out, I didn't give it much of a play test. Did so for a more extended period a few months back and subsequently made the switch. The weight and balance seems perfect for my swing and game style. I get a lot of power on the BH with this racquet and the control is very good. I will say that the stock strings that come in the frame do not do the racquet justice. I replaced them with Ektelon Power Premier 18g @ 32 lbs and the difference was tremendous. I also string my own racquets and was able to restring this frame in a way very similar to the e-Force racquets in that no two mains ever get pulled next to each other (was also able to eliminate the bottom two crosses which are unnecessary IMO). This allows for even more pop off of the stringed. I have a feeling I will be playing with this stick for a long to come and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and maneuverable racquet with great power and control.
Comments: I'm basically still new to the game and although I've improved quite a bit, I'm no expert. When i first started playing i was using heavier rackets which started causing tennis elbow. As i started to learn the difference in rackets, i started demoing different brands and weights. When i first tried this racket, i noticed i didn't feel my elbow hurt as much and that i could control the ball a lot easier than with the others. I could hit it hard or with touch and both required less effort than the other brands. Long story short, i purchased this racket about 6 months ago and i love it. My game has improved due to a lot of practice and play but the racket has made it easier and possible since my elbow pain has gone away and it's no longer an issue. Just yesterday i broke the string after all these months of playing at least 3 times a week which i think isn't bad after all the action it saw. I will be buying a back up racket and it will be another Connect for sure. I did upgrade the grip to a Python grip but that's the only modification i've made. I know i'm no expert but i do recommend you at least give this racket a shot. You will like it.
Comments: I originally commented on this racquet in July, 2012. Since then I have logged quite a few matches with the Connect 160. It is the best racquet I have owned in 30+ years of playing. It has a great combination of power and control. I would string it with 18 gauge string unless you are a big hitter. Then go with 17. The ball jumps off the racquet and with the tight string pattern you still don't have any breakage problems. The 18g string also give you great feel on touch shots. The Connect has also proven to be a durable. This racquet has allowed me to get the best out of my game. I hope it enhances your game as well.
Comments: Nice racquet! Great feel and control. I don't care for the wrist strap though. I will change it out to the traditional slip strap.
Comments: CONNECT 160...My weapon of choice! Outstanding combination of power and accuracy. Perfect fit for my fast and ferocious game to shoot winners with authority. Believe it or not, it also complements my soft touch game...the CONNECT is easy to maneuver...especially when returning other players' heatseakers (e.g., Jason, Tim, Brian, JW.) Note: It took me about a month to adjust and control the CONNECT. Afterwards, my game has improved big time. Ask anyone at the below gyms. Give it a try, but don't get too frustrated during the intial "break-in" or adaptation period.
Comments: Demo'd E-Force Command/Invasion, Ek Toron, PK KM. Wanted to venture out of my E-Force comfort zone. I only demoed the Connect and Sovereign because they made the other demos free. Wow was I Impressed! The frames are simple and stiff. Power is good--not quite E-Force power, but good enough. The control difference over E-Force is astounding. I'm a player with relatively poor mechanics and decent mobility. The lightweight Connect was noticeably more maneuverable from the moment the ball was in-play. It did sacrifice a small amount of power to the E-force offerings, but the level of control was amazing. A racquet shouldn't make a player better, but the Connect did. I wanted to like the others, but the Harrow racquets stole the show. Factory Ashaway Superkill XL is a nice touch. The frame is very stiff, and it is a single unit all the way through the handle. no gimmicky string pattern or marketing buzzwords. This is just a damn good racquet. I now have a matched pair and I'mm not going back. Love these racquets!
Comments: I'm sorry, but the reviews on here don't do these racquets justice! By far the New Harrow line is simply amazing! If you don't believe me, just demo them for yourself and I guarantee you will fall in love with the new feel and simple power. It's unbelievable really. All of the racquets have such great power and control and don't hurt your arm. But most importantly they feel so so comfortable and smooth. I really can't stress that part enough. I own an E-force Heatseeker 2.0, a Head Tapout and another few top of the line racquets and to be honest none compare. I demoed all three and fell in love with Harrows Connect 160. My arm never hurts anymore, like ever, I can play on and on, and the racquet just plays so smooth and effortless. It actually even improved my game and mechanics because of the ability to know and have this new confidence to focus on my mechanics and movement vs seconding guessing my racquets potential. The power and control is unreal and just gives you the player an overall new confidence and spirit in your game. I am almost certain the others below can agree and felt it. Everyone that I have allowed to play with my 160 says the same thing over and over. All in all, I love my 160, I have had it now from really since they came out with them and I demoed one. I have lost the need to use any of my other babies/ racquets, especially my Heatseeker but I'm sorry love, this connect just plays way too sweet. Really give me a try you won't be disappointed.
Comments: Great racquet! My only complaint was the wrist strap. I replaced it with the traditional strap, and now I am good to go. Nice feel, great control.
Comments: I have played with Ektelon racquets for pretty much my entire playing career since I learned as a teen, some 30+ years ago. I currently play with the Ektelon EXO3 Copper. I recently did a demo of the Sovereign 170 and Connect 160 racquets. The 160 was a little light for the way I play (the EXO3 is 190g), but still both racquets were fantastic. The power spot for these two racquets is higher on the head than most people will be use to. This provides, what I thought what I thought was an increase in power, especially in the 170. There was definitely an adjustment period for it. I played a total of 14 games in three different sessions with the two racquets and by the time that was done I had adjusted my swing and timing to accommodate the change in racquet length. I still want to demo the Spiritus 180 because I think it might be the better racquet for my swing and give me more of the same feel that I get from the Ektelon EXO3 Copper. However, I think the three racquets are fanastic and would highly recommend anyone give them a try.
Comments: Just demo'd this racquet... the amount of control and balance is unprecedented. Played several games with it, but I noticed the best results from my serves. I must have had 10-11 aces in 3 games using this. I normally play with E-Force racquets, and while this didn't have as much power as the Heatseeker 2.0's that I normally use, it only felt slightly underpowered. I highly recommend demoing this racquet and giving Harrow a shot.
Comments: I've played with the 160 connect for about 8 months now. I am impressed with its combination or power and control. The factory strings and dampener combined with the dense string pattern gave the (out of the box) Connect less feel than I like. This was easily solved by going to an 18 gauge string and taking out the dampener. I have it strung at 34/32 and this works well for me. I've found the racquets sweet-spot to be a little farther from my hand than it is with any other racquet I've played with. This probably helps give the racquet its excellent power. I always use and XS grip and then built it up just a tiny, but the XS on this racquet is slightly bigger than normal so I could not customize it to my taste. Overall the connect is a solid racquet with a great combination of power and control.
Comments: An Excellent Racquet. I made an easy transition from an Ektelon Black. The increased control from the string pattern is excellent and the balanced weight reduced stress on my elbow. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a change.
