Ektelon EXO3 Black

Comments: I played with an ektelon racquet when I was 14 ( 26 now ) and liked it but it hurt my arm after a couple of games. So I decided to
try a prokennex. Since I was 15 I have played with prokennex but about a year ago I decided to give wilson a go. The kaboom was nice but it just
was not the same as the kennex. Then I demo the new kane kennex racquet and also a wilson and this x03. I was made in to a believer. I had
no arm pain, amazing power, and was surprised at the level of control I had. In the past ektelons always were difficult for me to find the "sweet"
spot. But not with this bad boy. I am more than excited and providing it holds up well I will be playing with ektelon for a while!!

Comments: I've been a Ektelon player/buyer since the early 80's.  Just demo'd the EXO3 and felt it was about the same quality as my old Toron.  Yes that's right, I haven't been able to find anything with the power of a Toron until now!  Also demo'd the O3 black and O3 RG.  EXO3 is a very stable racquet with lots of power.  Much better than the 03 black or RG.  Think the strings could be just a little tighter but I'll re-string it when I buy one and maybe go up or down 5 lbs to see what that does for control?  Pinches for power were good, a little off on the soft pinches but that could be just playing more with the EXO3 too?  Don't like the clear grips could feel the racquet turn slightly when you hit a hard torque down the line or cross court shot.  Would recommend changing that to one of the rubber grips.

Comments: I left one of the first reviews on this racquet several months ago, it was the best racquet I ever had till it decided to self destruct.  It has made me quite popular at my local gym, as it is the first racquet anyone has ever seen break in half never touching the floor, wall, ceiling, or anything for that matter.  First, the racquet started showing some minor "stress" (relief) cracks in the frame and flaked a bit of clear coat off, but still played good for several months, but on a serve one day the whole racquet split in half at the last cross string.  I am going to send back into RBW and will try one more Ektelon, then I am off to HEAD.  I have been holding out and sticking with Ektelon, but my buddies have been killing me with their HEAD's for years.

Comments: The EXO3 is the best racquet i have ever played with and has a great power source ( exo3 chain ) and power plugs for greater control but i really dont use them because they make the racquet too heavy.

Comments: Moving up from the 03 White made this an easy transition. I no longer use any plugs and the power is amazing for this 58+ oldiebutgoodie.  It works just as well Outdoors too.

Comments: The EXO3 Black is the best racquet i have ever used. It has great power and control, it almost instantly made me a power player. I can just kill balls off the backwall. However, I have broken this racquet once already. I would recommend this racquet to anyone who can afford to purchase another one if the first one breaks. Just keep your receipt, Ektelon is normally pretty good about standing behind their frames.

Comments: This racquet was very nice, I love the feel of the grip. I tend to hit very very hard, and after 3 weeks of play, a thin strip of graphite on the side of the racquet broke, and the plastic strip on the side of the racquet, got sucked into the middle of the racquet.
(I heard rumors that extelon knows about this problem and was fixing it with newer releases)
However, before it broke, I really did enjoy the feel and power of this racquet. The sweet spot was very big, and I thought control and power were excellent.

Comments: This racquet is the best racquet Ive ever played with at 170 grams. Excellent weight and for more control, 2 power plugs add 5 grams.

Comments: When I first got a hold of this stick, the first thing that I noticed was that it hit so much softer than any other. Also minimal vibration, even on off center or power shots. Took a little getting used to the grip, but an incredible racquet, the best I've ever hit with. Ektelon has done it again!

Comments: This is the best racquet to be made by Ektelon since the 03 Black. It is the most powerful, and the most forgiving. This racquet has pretty great feel to it also. I highly recommend it.

Comments: Amazing racquet! This racquet is more neutral balanced than any of the previous racquets I have played with from Ektelon. I have been playing for 12 years and have bought a new Ektelon racquet each year and have been pleased. Recently, I played with a Head racquet and was ready to throw my 03 speedport away. The Head racquet felt balanced and it didn‚t feel so labored when reacting to front court play as all of my Ektelon‚s, yes they were the same weight as the Head and no I did not have those weights in the racquets either. However, I decided to give Ektelon one last chance before moving to Head. First thing is to remove factory string. You don‚t drive a race car with all season radials. Replaced with Tecnifibre X-One BiPhase 17 Red(must look good) at 36lb tension. Ektelon went back to using grommets again, which in my opinion is good because the grommet-less racquets from previous years did not hold up well and would eat string, the paint would flake around the string holes, and the frames would distort from the string tearing into the frame in the contact areas. The fit and finish on this racquet is superb compared to all earlier versions. It is the first Ektelon racquet I have seen that shows off the carbon/graphite fibers like E-Force, but with some lightly ghosted graphics and a nice clear coat to seal everything together.

Playability:
This racquet is fast and very responsive. It was kind and forgiving on ceiling returns, but when force is applied the barometric pressure behind the racquet drops resulting in a thunder cannon explosion that resembled a sabot round from a M1 Abrams tank being fired at retreating enemy insurgents. It made years of self loathing due to poor shot placement and skips disappear in a few hits. It was forgiving where it needs to be and tight when power was needed. I constantly felt like this was my 03 during light play, but once the juice was turned up it fired laser beams where you wanted the ball to go. I believe I could mow my lawn with this thing at 38 feet. Also, I broke 2 new Penn HD balls with full label on them tonight.

Conclusion:
As with anything new the newness wears off after a few hours. I play about 5 days a week and restring every 14~21 days to be sure I don‚t have pre-mature string failure in mid play. I will adjust the string tensions up and down to see how it responds. The frame is more skeletal than any previous, so, I will see if I completely shatter it during an intense session of ball murder.
