Very sturdy, does its job wellI've been using the Alpha Revo 4000 for over a year now. It does its job very well. Never had any issues with it as long as I was using it as intended. I've bought and used tension measuring instruments - note that crank tension typically is higher than true tension (if you want to string at 50lbs, set the crank tension to about 55lbs). I got a wire rolling cart for it from amazon and upgraded the crank to a Wise 2086. I string for myself every two weeks, and on and off for my friends. It's been holding up like a champ!

Been using it for 15 years, only consistency!I was reluctant to get a machine because I had 2 buddies and their machines looked to be a pain in the neck. The string beds also didn't come out even and consistent. But the alpha was generally designed in a similar way to the Prince that was used by lots of shops at the time, so I went for it. Since then, the tension head has never needed adjustment. I check it once a year but it never changes. The only wear item is the base clamps tend to loose their clamping grip so I have mess with adjusting those about every 5 years. I string about 3-4 racquets a month and I find that the 6 point mount is very easy to use and flexible. My pro tip is to focus on consistency, use basic knots, and don't worry about how long it takes to do those crosses :-)

Stopped workingBought this machine. After a 12 months the device that holds tension stopped working. It still sits in my shed inactive.

Comments: Bought this a month ago with a couple of reels of string, polyester and synthetic gut, so far I've strung six racquets with little issue except the learning curve of stringing in general on any machine. I think this will be a good investment long term, I see the build quality and options on this stringer as a very solid option. I could've went drop weight and had same results, but I just wanted the crank version. I also bought a Gamma tension tester and it seems the stringer was about correct out of the box, no adjust for me needed. It comes ready to go after you put the racquet mounting and string grippers on. I strung five of my own racquets and all came out virtually the same tension-wise. Only thing I need to get is a starting clamp for tie off and I believe also some people use it for starting crosses, but I'm a big time novice still. I don't feel you are over your head with this stringer if you are starting out. My expectation is Alpha will have my back if I ever need assistance with the crank system or new grippers. I debated on which version to get with the stand or tabletop, so far I'm happy with the table top, but that's a coin flip because the stand has some advantage as well. I'm only stringing all my racquets mid 50's typically so I haven't calibrated or tested into the 60's or low 40's yet.

Comments: I just bought this machine February 25th and it arrived a week after in good condition and very well packed. I also bought the Gamma Tension calibrator to check the machine's tension accuracy right out of the box. The machine's pulling tension which I set at 50 pounds matched the Gamma's calibrator tension of 50 pounds. Since then I strung three racquets already and I was very impressed with this machine's overall ease of use and I was also impressed by its build quality. I know this machine will last me a long time and will most importantly save me a lot of money stringing for myself and for my two young sons. I have ordered separately an industrial, heavy duty service, and utility cart with wheels from Amazon which I plan to mount the machine so I can easily stow away the machine when not in use. The machine is quite heavy and robust thus the need for the cart. The stringing machine came with a manual on how to operate along with the cutter, awl, pliers, and a pair of extra mounting pads and springs. I am very satisfied with my purchase from Tennis Warehouse.

Comments: I purchased an Alpha Revo 4000 approximate 6 1/2 or 7 years ago and can't say enough good about it. I don't see enough sturdy metal products like this anymore. There is very little plastic on this machine, it is well designed, well manufactured, and the clamps are metal and of high quality. I knew nothing about how to string a racquet but had a son playing juniors at a high level, and playing practicing 30-35 hours a week, and popping 3 or 4 racquets a week. I was paying approximately $42 per racquet for a restring using Luxilon ALU Power Spin, so it was beginning to cost us a fortune. I made the decision to buy a stringer and learned how to string primarily to save money. I figured I could save about $24-$26 per restring job or $75-$100 per week and pay for the machine within 2-3 months- That's exactly what happened. The machine shipped with tools, several packets of string (or you can pick up some synthetic gut to practice with for $3.50-$4 a package), and a CD with instructions to teach you to string and tie a number of different knots, best practices and machine maintenance (these same videos are available on YouTube and it's possible that today they simply give you QR codes for the YouTube videos). I also purchased a calibrator and I recommend that as you will want to recalibrate periodically, especially if you travel with the machine to tournaments as we sometimes did. (It's a little heavy, but portable enough that you can throw it in the back of an SUV and carry to a tourney and string onsite if you need to). Though I admit the first racquet probably took me 3-4 hours, the second took half that and within a few weeks, I could string a racquet in 30-35 minutes. It would take me longer if I had to learn a new racquet or string a different racquet for a friend, but it's doable if you are interested in learning. The instructional videos are exceptional and done by a certified stringer who is easy to follow. We used our Alpha several times a week for 3-4 years until my son graduated and went to college, and less for a couple years after, but I am now back to stringing 3 racquets a week for my youngest son. This machine has stood the test of time, and I've had a couple of people offer to buy it for not much less than what I paid for it, so it has held its' value. My youngest son is now learning to string (which is great).

Comments: I bought this machine 10 days ago and have strung 4 racquets. It's durable and going to save me lots of time as I gain experience stringing more racquets. The calibration was slightly off but I also purchased a calibrator along with the machine based on YouTube recommendation from other stringers who use crank machine. Overall I am satisfied with the purchase as well as the product. Highly recommend Alpha Revo to anyone looking for machine for a nice price.

Comments: I don't own this machine. Why am I writing here, then? It's because I strongly believe you should think of buying an Alpha stringer. It's a company that will stand behind its machine 200%. I was lucky enough to buy a used Alpha Axis from Ebay. I was unlucky because it arrived quite damaged. Before I was able to get my money back from the seller, I called Alpha for help. The guys at Alpha were awesome. They helped me identify replacement parts that would fit the older machine. They dug around in their warehouse to find replacement parts that are no longer made. They calibrated the tension head for free. They spent a lot of time talking with me about how to get this machine to work. While I was talking to them, I asked "should I just get my money back and buy a new machine?" They could easily have advised me to buy a new machine, directly from them. Instead, they helped me with my fixer upper and I saved a ton of money, because the Ebay seller refunded me the purchase price. Now I have a great stringer, after a little investment of time and effort by me and a ton of help from Alpha. If you value customer support and you want a rock-solid machine, buy an Alpha.

Comments: If you are thinking of buy this machine do. It is by far the best machine I've worked with. It is flawless and Alpha customer service is great!

Comments: One of the best bang for the bucks machine. It's very solid. I sold mine and got the Alpha Apex about 2 years ago. I needed a stand up for traveling reasons (stringing in the middle of a parking lot, etc.)
