Great MachineGot this stringer as my first machine, and it's worked great. Instruction manual isn't any good for learning, but I figured it out from YouTube videos. It comes with the necessary tools for stringing, plus its own set of hex wrenches for the screws, and a few replacement parts.

Solid StringerI've had this stringer for well over a decade, replaced the spring in the tensioner, and it continues to be a solid machine. Haven't thought once I need anything else. I string for myself, and every now and then someone else.

Previous Feedback

Comments: I just got the machine and the actual drop weight of the machine came separate from the lever, there are no instructions on how to get it on and no obvious solution.
From: Ohm, 1/10/21

Comments: Four Stars to five stars for the product and zero stars for the manual. Spending almost $550 on this machine you expect a decent manual, not a low quality and vague manual full of errors, with blurry and unhelpful photos printed in black and white on letter size papers. Come on Alpha! You got to do better than this.

Comments: I have had this drop weight stringer for a week now and it has been great. I bought it so my roommate and I could use it in the college dorm room. We have enjoyed it so much because we can string as soon as we break one after practice. The packaging was very good and most of it was assembled when it arrived. I can see myself using this machine for many years.
From: Zac, 10/4/20

Comments: I bought this machine because I was breaking strings almost on a daily basis. I've had it for about six or seven years now. My only problem so far was that the inner spring in the racheting system broke and I had to get it replace. The people where I bought the machine from were very nice and actually sent me the whole racheting system. I have not had any problems since. from time to time I might open the racheting system and inspect the spring. You can give it some grease if needed. You just have to know how to disassemble and resemble the system. I have made a lot of money stringing racquets for fellow tennis players. the machine is great, served me very well and still going strong.

Comments: I have owned this for several years. It is more expensive than some entry level stringers but this product is worth the extra price. The stringer will pay for itself within a year or two just doing your own racquets. Everything about this stringer is heavy duty and it will last a lifetime. It is very sturdy with no movement or flexing when applying tension to strings. The clamps are high quality metal clamps which are above grade for stringers in this price range. The fit and finish of every component is high quality. The pendulum is easy to use, grips the string well and the ratcheting mechanism simplifies achieving a "balanced" tension. The only negative about the pendulum is the noise associated with the "clicking" of the ratchet mechanism and using the pendulum is pretty slow compared to crank or direct pull tensioning devices. This year, I decided to upgrade my stringing setup but rather than sell and replace this stringer I elected to replace the pendulum with the WISE 2086 electronic tensioning device (requires a simple adapter sold through TW) which is much faster and less noisy so I can use it in the common living areas watching TV without disturbing my family. I also mounted the stringer on a small cabinet on castors with shelves which spares me the joy of lugging the stringer from my garage to the kitchen table and provides storage for stringing tools and materials. Overall, I am very happy with this stringer as it served me well as an entry level stringer and with the above mentioned additions allowed me to upgrade my setup without investing in another stringer. I highly recommend this product for anyone who plans to stay with tennis for years to come who wants a high quality stringer at an entry level price with the ability to upgrade down the road.

Comments: I've had this stringing machine for years. Ratcheting makes it a breeze to get the arm in the right position. Great stringer!
From:Neill, 9/15

Comments: I had a Gamma X-2 stringing machine, but wanted to upgrade to something that had fixed clamps and a six point mounting system and this fit the bill. What I really like is that you don't have to hold the string griper as you ratchet the drop weight, which was kind of slick and required quite a bit of hand strength. The Alpha has a catch that allows it to be ratcheted without holding it. You can release it to reposition the string griper.
