This blast from the past combines raw speed with spin-friendly targeting and a buttery feel at impact

The Tour Diablo Midplus is back! Originally launched in the early 2000s, the Diablo Tour Midplus is ideal for intermediate and advanced players who crave spin, precision and feel. With its sub-320 swingweight and ultra head light balance, this 11.5 ounce racquet moves faster than a traditional player's racquet, making it great for whipping up spin, hitting shots on the run or charging into the front court.  It also has a flexible 19.5mm box beam, giving it the buttery feedback of a bygone era. Other notable features include a 16x18 string pattern (for easier spin and depth) along with an extended 27.25" length, resulting in easier access to power on groundies and serves. All in all, this racquet is not only ideal for those seeking modern speed and classic feel, it's also a great collectible.

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be!Just what TW headline says "raw speed with spin-friendly targeting and a buttery feel". At stock specs racquet is easy to use, but I don't think any intermediate to advanced level players will play it stock. Racquet is little unstable at stock weight-balance. I have 1 gram at 12 and 5 grams total at 3/9. I would switch TW review scores of Serves and Control. For me it's easier to get more serve plus one points than unreturned serves. Control on serve placement and ground strokes is excellent. It's very easy to maneuver pace and/or depth once rally starts. Slices are heavenly. Touch shots are easy to execute and no issues with comfort (after adding weight and I am using Gut/Poly). It hits ball with good speed and control, but not a very heavy ball. You can finish points with winners, but this is not a racquet to hit through someone. It does not require one to always redline to play successfully though.

Great frame for those who like classic feelI've long loved the feel and potential to hit crafty shots with the Phantom 93P (14x18). To be fair, I'm a bit of a Prince fanboy and bought this racquet out of nostalgia as much as anything. I'm self-aware. Ok, as for how it really plays, it feels like a slightly more predictable 93P with a larger sweet spot. Makes sense- it's a larger head and has a 16x18 pattern. It still has great feel and ample power for those with longer strokes. It's quite fun. It also looks great, in-person. These thin beamed frames aren't for everyone. They make you work, but they really offer a special experience. When the price is right, treat yourself.

Nothing Else Like It In The Prince LineupI've owned quite a few Prince racquets over the years, but this was the one that I always regretted selling. I've been pretty committed to the Phantom ecosystem due to some arm issues, but I've started to venture out into other models and brands including the Phantom 18x20, Tour 310, and Ripstick. There's really nothing else like this frame. It's crisp, but comfortable. It's quick, but not whippy. For me, I'd say it's a great bridge between an 18x20 frame like the Phantom and Prince's other 16x20 frames. It seems like the launch angle is a bit lower, so you can really drive the ball, but you do get a bit more net clearance than you would with the 18x20. Several of my opponents commented on the heavy trajectory of the incoming shots as it seemed most of my them had noticeably more penetrating power with more spin as well. Rather than the loopy spin of my Head Extreme, the Diablo seems to invite a more hybrid swing path (not as flat as the 18x20, but not as vertical as a pure spin frame). Serves feel awesome. They go exactly where you want them to go with very consistent precision. I wouldn't say you get tons of free power, but my flat serves were hitting the corners and jumping out of the court with much more energy than my Phantoms. I've never had as many slice serve aces as I've had with this racquet and I really don't know what to attribute it to. The balls would just continue to carve out of the court, leaving my opponents lunging at empty air. It's not as demanding as other extended length racquets (I've played with both the Phantom LB and the Serena Autograph), but it's marginally more demanding than the standard Phantom 16x18 or even the Tour 310 16x18, but it's less demanding than the Phantom 18x20. So happy they brought this one back. It's brought not only a smile to my face, it's also brought some unexpected wins to my record.

Classic Frame With Great PlayabilityI have to echo my thoughts from the first review that this racquet shines on flatter hitting and easy to serve with. I added 2 grams total at 10 and 2 along with 2 grams on the butt of the handle. This added some additional stability to the upper hoop on hoop on offer center hits along adding some additional plow through. The Diablo MP Tour is also capable of hitting heavy topspin and a nice slice backhand. The additional 1/4 inch provides a bit more reach and more power. The Diablo plays similar to the Phantom 100P but is more HL and easier to swing. The comfort level is quite good and I really like the feel of old school thin beam racquets. I just purchased a second one due to the sale and purchased some Klip Legend Gut in a 15L to try in a hybrid set up. Highly recommended to players who value the feel and control of thin beam frames!

The Return of a Classic!Great throwback racquet from the 2000s that still plays well today. The string bed is pretty dense in the middle which allows for more control and a lower trajectory than a 16x18 string pattern on a 100 sq in head would suggest. This thing swings FAST! If you're a big, flat hitter, you will love this. Serves are amazing as well.

Senior tournament playerFor this frame players should be open to rethinking their string tension. The racquet is light and swings fast with a great deal of flex. If you drop your tension 5 or 10 lbs it brings out the best characteristics of spin, dampening, and power. I have always been more interested in a racquet I can swing fully and still keep the ball in the court and this is it.
