Virtually indestructible, the Black Ace Pro uses a single 10mm. polypropylene honeycomb core inlay between the carbon face materials, which along with its 15.8 in. length, and 7.95 oz. weight, fuel the Black Ace Pro's power. As with all ProKennex paddles, the Black Ace Pro utilizes their patented Kinetic System Technology to reduce shock and vibration, for top notch comfort. In addition, the Kinetic System optimizes ball dwell time (control) while also decreasing shock and vibration. Potentially great but FlawedI been demo this paddle for about a week and my thoughts on it is that it has a lot of potential. Power wise it is unbelievable. If you put a ton of top spin on your shot this paddle will help you get it over the net. In addition, you're up at the net game will be amazing. 10mm thickness helps the ball pop off more and allows you to play more of a punch game at the net. In addition if you have a strong service game, get ready to have aces and un-returnables. Also being a tennis company, the handle for this paddle is excellent. Now you are thinking wow this paddle sounds great but is there a flaw that you will come by on this paddle. Note I have not tried the ovation of the paddle yet but yes I noticed that there is a lot of aerodynamic drag when swinging. This creates not only a problem with control of the shot but also how you have to swing. Also there is no real room to add extra weight for the handling which becomes a problem. I think if ProKennex add an extra .5 to .7 pounds of weight to the paddle it will help deal with the drag issue and you will definitely see an increase in performance. The aerodynamic fix might be with the ovation paddle but we shall see. Overall I like the paddle it is a great buy for someone who doesn't have much power to their game but just be aware of the drag. My recommendation Demo before buy but overall solid paddle.
