Solid machineI looked at all of the stringing machines available, and decided that for my first venture into this world I would go with a drop weight machine (I am only stringing for myself, not doing string jobs for others). Of the drop weight machines, this one looked to have the best looking six-point racquet mount as well as string clamps for the money. In person it looks like I made the right choice. The base of the racquet mounting plate is well-made, nice and beefy. Everything moves easily and then locks down tight when needed. Seems to be a high quality tool. Minimal assembly required, basically it's just putting on the drop bar and weight and inserting the string clamps into their post holders. So far I've strung up three racquets, no problems at all. Definitely you will want to watch a bunch of how-to videos on how to string up your stick, but there are plenty of those videos available. Of course, now the problem will be becoming obsessed with trying out all sorts of strings... It is a significant investment, no doubt. However, not having to rely on taking your gear down to a shop is well worth it for me. I like knowing exactly how my gear is now setup. I will personally be the one in charge of making changes. When I try stringing the same setup, but five pounds lower or higher tension, I will know that it has been done the same way and to my specs.
