Overview

The V-Cell V1 Pro replaces the V-Feel V1 Pro. At roughly 11.2 ounces strung, this very speedy player's racquet is ideal for intermediate and advanced players. Compared to the previous generation, this racquet has a lower swingweight, giving it impressive maneuverability. According to our TW playtesters this version of the V1 Pro has excellent feel and ball pocketingFor this update, Volk gives the frame extra V-Cell (a cellulose based carbon) resulting in a more comfortable, stable and responsive hitting experience. This racquet also has Volkl's innovative REVA based handle system which has been meticulously designed to deliver a smoother, more arm-friendly feel at impact. On groundstrokes the V1 Pro moves extremely fast, making it great for whipping up spin or cranking winners on the run. The speed continues at net where this stick plays great on reaction volleys. This racquet also shines on serve where it explodes through contact to deliver impressive spin and easy placement. Ultimately, with some subtle updates to the feel, the V1 Pro continues to be an obvious option for players who want a very speedy players racquet with the kind of spin-friendly precision that provides confidence on full cuts.

Update re: "Grommets snap right away"I gave a three-star review in April 2022 that deserves to be revised. As I said at the time, these frames retain the supple playing characteristics of previous generations of Volkl frames. Five stars there. My main complaint and disappointment was that the grommets snapped right away. It seemed like a manufacturing or quality control issue. But since then, my local pro shop got Volkl to send me several new sets of grommets and I've had no further problems with them. So, maybe it was just a one-off thing with that initial batch. Whatever the case, I'm back in love with Volkl. So, five stars all around. No caveats.

Great plush racket with arm comfortThis racquet is very plush, almost like a pillow. If you have any arm discomfort from previous racquets, this is a good option. Even though the stiffness says it's high, it is actually plush because of the 20mm beam design at the 3 and 9. The thicker 23mm beam at top and bottom of the head makes it forgiving on off center hits.

Need more hypeI don't know why there is no hype on this racquet. This is Volkl's answer to the Pure Strike. Feels like a Pure Strike but with more feel and spin. Surprising amount of spin with this racquet for a narrower and oval shaped racquet compared to racquets like Yonex which are wide and squarish or Head Boom.

Best racquet and I've tried them all! This is the best racquet I have ever had. I tried the Ezones, Vcores, Head Radical, Boom, Speed and Instinct; Wilson Blade, ProStaff, Clash, Burn and the Babolat Pure Drive, Strike and Aero. But this racquet has very good spin as well as precision. Might not have the best stability at the edges but its not that that bad. Hitting it in the sweetspot gets you everywhere. So hence the name pro. If you hit well, it will award you. It needs to be customized with some weight because unfortunately it comes underweight. I just hope the quality control was little better.

Grommets snap right awayI am a longtime Volkl fan, having played with the C10 Pro for many years when I was younger, then having switched to the Organix version of the V1 Pro for the last ten years. I recently bought two of this current generation V-Cell V1 Pro frames. They play very similarly to the previous generations of the V1 Pro -- and they retain the famously supple "Volkl feel" -- but the grommets on both frames started snapping right away. (On one of the two frames, it happened on the first day out. On the other, it happened after only a handful of plays.) Seems like a manufacturing quality-control issue, or maybe substandard material? Either way, it's disappointing.

Previous Feedback

Comments: Very plush response in the sweetspot. Small, but very good feeling sweetspot. Great racquet if you can constantly hit the sweetspot.

Comments: This racquet is very string dependent. I found that Luxilon 4g at 48lbs was the best for feel and control. It needs just 3 grams each on 3 & 9, and it becomes a solid weapon.
