Ektelon's 2014 ESP Toron Pro 170 Racquet is a more maneuverable and durable update to the previous ESP RG Toron 170. A devious red and black cosmetic keeps your opponent guessing, while the lower swingweight and 3 grams lighter strung-weight allow for a faster swing. Reinforced by TeXtreme (a thinner, lighter, and more durable way to weave carbon fibers) in four key areas of the frame to provide torsional stability and superior durability.  Packed with Ektelon innovation, this racquet features a powerful combination of an open string pattern (ESP - Extreme String Pattern) and long main-strings (DPR - Double Power Ring) for loyal fans of the Toron line.

All racquets come factory strung with a wrist cord installed. Click the Specs tab for more details.

*Unstrung weight is part of the name given to this racquet by the manufacturer; all other specs are measured by Racquetball Warehouse USRSA Master Racquet Technicians on a Babolat Racquet Diagnostic Center machine. String never weighs more than 25 grams, so if there is more than a 25 gram variance between Unstrung Weight and Strung Weight then the manufacturer most likely measured the Unstrung Weight of the raw graphite frame (i.e. without grip, grommets, or paint). In addition, due to the porous nature of graphite material, manufacturers approve of a +/- 10 gram variance during the manufacturing process.

Comments: I purchased (2) Toron 170g racquets last winter.  I have since had each racquet re-strung (5) times.  I continuously break the vertical off-center strings. I have used Python, E-Force, Gamma and Ashway strings.  I find that I get about 2-weeks of play out of these racquets after re-stringing.  I have now spent more money on stringing than the cost of the racquets.  I believe that the frame is so stiff that the strings are absorbing much more impact from the ball.  The racquet hits great, but I would not recommend purchasing the Toron 170g

Comments: I've been playing this for 9 months now, it took me about a month to get used to the weighting difference as well as the string pattern causing shots to react different than what I was accustomed to with my EXO3 RG. I added 6 grams of lead tape to the top of the frame it feels great now! For whatever reason I have begun to blow through string like no tomorrow. My guy who strings upped me to a 17 gauge as he said the grommet holes are large and could have been causing too much movement in the smaller 18 gauge. None the less, I love this racquet for its missle launching capabilities

[Ron, The Ektelon ESP Toron 170 Racquet is available in two different grip shapes, the standard SS or the more rounded SSR, as well as two different grip sizes (3 5/8 inch and 3 7/8 inch) to meet player preferences and hand sizes. -RbW Staff]

Comments: Have been playing with eForce for last 3 years as I always had issues with vibration in ektelon racquets; Vibration is non existent in this one similar to eForce.  I have better control; lots of power and the racquet provides very good feedback.

Comments: WOW! I've been playing with the Ektelon 03 White for a long time because of its balanced head weight and sturdy frame. Even though this new Toron is 5 points head heavy, it feels balanced and swings quickly. My swing is less violent now because the racquet generates so much power. The control is good and the sweet spot seems large. Other companies have elaborate vibration dampening systems but nothing beats the simple rubber "worm" woven between the strings. Great racquet!
